If not, the monthly cost of using Audirvana across my machines would not be worth it.I shall begin by asking you to indulge me some venting: I hate the direction that many high-end preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers have taken the last quarter-century and longer- detest is a more precise word. If the new subscriber model is a personal license across my machines, that would make the pricing shown on the web site ($5.90/moth) more palatable. I have multiple Audirvana licenses to cover multiple machines that I use exclusively. Otherwise I use the Qobuz player for convenience. I only use Audirvana occasionally when listening to Qobuz with certain DACS. It's the pricing, not necessarily the subscription model that's the critical decision for developers, and their customers. ![]() ![]() So, if push comes to shove I'll ditch Audirvana. Qobuz on its own provides significant value for me. But the pricing does, somewhat.įor me, I must now pay Audirvana and Qobuz nearly $20/month, altogether. The move to a subscriber model doesn't bother me. I have used Audirvana for years, with iTunes and Qobuz. So at this early stage I am really like using Studio and will gladly pay the subscription rate if no tedious software issues. I haven't had any problems so far, but they would be a deal-breaker. ![]() I'm also concerned by comments relating to issues of compatibility with the MacBook. This is the Benchmark Audio support model which, for me, distinguishes real customer support from the community approach that is merely a convenience to the company. I preferred sending in a question and Damien, et al, responding. Now, what I don't like is the vague support system which seems to rely on the "community". I hope to have more to say on this down the road. The Studio download went fine and, though early days, I am very impressed with Studio over Plus. I am running the Benchmark amp and DAC3L with the LA4 preamp to be added soon. As a long-time Tidal subscriber, I have no issues with subscriptions so long as there is performance value for the investment. I was surprised by the subscription business model and to learn that my current software is now a "legacy". I've used Audirvana for years, but less so over the last several months. I recently initiated the 30-day trial of Studio. A two-tiers subscription model, where you can pay more if you need web-based services, but you can also pay less, if you don’t need them. A wishlist website where customers who support the business can submit requests, vote for them, see the upcoming new features ahead of time. A decent permanent license software that works. I am sorry to say that for me to be willing to commit to a subscription-based model, the bar should be raised higher: no way to parse all metadata, only the main ones. It plays only the selected track and then it stops, I can hardly believe it works this way. Poor display of metadata, with inline scrolling and poor usage of screen estate. ![]() no way to jump backward/fwd in playback using arrow keys, which is the minimum I’d expect from a music player. Search by name is broken, you select one album in the search results, and it still takes you to a list that includes all albums, so you have to choose again. Those like me who supported Audirvana+ over the years are now left with two choices: pay a high monthly fee for a service they don’t need, or keep using Audirvana+, aware of the fact that it’s not going to get any support and improve over time. A large portion of the UI in Audirvana studio is dedicated to streaming services that I am not interested in (considering the poor quality of masters you are going to get on those services), but you still have to deal with a UI and monthly-based subscription model that forces you into the online steaming model. Damien may have done a fantastic job at developing the best music player on the market, but sadly, the software is plagued by usability issues and generally speaking, a mediocre user experience.

At the same time, 45% of those surveyed said there were “few or no qualified applicants” for open jobs, a number that “has been trending higher since 2009” and been in the mid-to-high 40s since May 2014. Insider reported that the survey found “23% of firms reported increases to compensation in the past three months,” while “a seasonally-adjusted net 16% plan to raise compensation in the coming months,” up 3% from August. NFIB Chief Economist William Dunkelberg called the summer’s optimism readings “less than impressive.” The September survey results showed that seven components of the total index “posted small gains,” but 3 declined, “including a large decline in the net percent of owners expecting stronger real sales volumes in the next few months.” The overall reading of 96.1 is “well below the 42 year average of 98,” but is “consistent with expected economic growth of about 2.5%,” Dunkelberg said.Ģ4/7 Wall Street (NY) reported that the survey showed small business owners “said their single most important problem is taxes (22%), government regulations and red tape (22%) or quality of labor (16%),” while their “least important problems are financing and interest rates (1%) and inflation (2%).” The data show some indication of the future of US small business jobs, Business Insider suggested. This comes after another small gain in August of 0.5 points. For September, the survey of 656 US small business owners showed the index was relatively flat, rising 0.2 points to 96.1. Lastly, the “Mappy” version is funky and incorporates bird sound effects. “Pac-Man” shares a dreamy quality to it while “Dig Dug” is an upbeat march. “Gaplus” is dark, intense, and sinister, while “Rally-X,” on the other hand, is upbeat and jovial. “Xevious” is a march-like rendition of the classic Xevious tune and has a dreamy quality to it. There are also “Galactic Dancing” renditions of other Namco games. All of which are generally enjoyable short tunes, but definitely sound like a typically generic tune mirroring those styles. These include a “Waltz,” “Tango,” “Salsa,” and “Big Band Jazz” versions. There are also a variety of “Galactic Dancing” tunes present. “Loading BGM” is space-like in sound and has a dreamy quality to the iconic Galaga melody and features a medley like approach to its music. The overall soundtrack, however, is rather lackluster. There is also a “CM64” version, standing for Commodore 64, that is present that mirrors the “GS Arrange” in terms of approach. It’s other renditions, such as the “GS Arrange version” is more orchestral in sound which helps strengthen the tune a bit while the “Arrange Version” is a bit more engaging and features a blend of orchestral chiptune sound fonts and more 8-bit renditions as well. “Dark Planet BGM” is repetitive and ominous. The next game featured is Star Luster, a soundtrack with many short ditties and most of which feature a more minimalist approach, which makes sense given that Hiroyuki Kawada was responsible for most of the soundtrack. Lastly, “Excellence is an upbeat tune with a celebratory sound that closes off the game’s soundtrack nicely. “Flash Flash Flash” is another super engaging tune with a vibrant melody, wonderful solos, and is certainly the most substantial tune from the game. “Blast Power” is funky with plenty of slap bass and features a smooth melody that manages to stand out. “Red Alert” is tense and mysterious with some great synth work and a punchy sound. The “Title Menu” is rather funk while it’s various other themes run the gamut of sounds. “Little Wave” is an extremely catchy tune with a space sound and an excellent melody that definitely serves as a highlight. Of these releases, Bosconian certainly has the most meaty soundtrack, despite its relative length. The first disc features music and sound effects from three games, Bosconian, Star Luster, and Galaga ’88. Composed by a variety of, at the time, Namco employees, and featuring music from games such as Bosconian, Dig Dug, Xevious, and Pac-Man, among others, is this all-encompassing compilation release that captures an early look at game composition. Specially because the PS4 emulator (same game/controller/engine) on PS5 has more input lag than in a real PS4. Seeing PS5 has more input lag on PS5 both in UE an in ARC Sys engine, so pretty likely they may optimize stuff on the game engine but most of the issue should be on the OS side.
